Mental health<\/a> is a critical component of overall health and well-being, yet it remains under-recognized and under-resourced in many low- and middle-income countries, including Zambia. The burden of mental, neurological, and substance use disorders in Zambia contributes substantially to disability, lost productivity, and reduced quality of life. Structural barriers\u2014limited specialist workforce, stigma, fragmented service delivery, and insufficient financing\u2014impede broad access to effective mental health<\/a> care. Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) offers a pragmatic, evidence-informed framework for bridging this gap by embedding behavioral health services within primary care settings. This essay examines the rationale for PCBH in Zambia, outlines core components of an integrated model, discusses implementation considerations and expected benefits, and highlights how PCBH can promote prevention, reduce stigma, and normalize help-seeking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
